Audio/video and photography

At the start of petes first lesson we learnt about editing in video. our first task was to having to understand to put clips together in order to create a sequence. to do this, we used the software Adobe premiere Pro where we were given clips to us to put in order. we also in that lesson learnt about different types of cut such as L cut, J cut and other cuts used in clips etc. when editing clips together its important that it matches well to do with the different cuts so that to the viewers eyes they can understand chorological order wise what is going on.

Cuts and Transitions in Film
Different types of cuts:
Basic cut- A basic cut is when two clips are put together, they make a connection from the end of a first clip to the start of a second one.
Fade to Black cut- A fade to black cut is when a scene changes to black, It usually means something dramatic is about to happen or it could mean the credits that end a film.
Cross dissolve cut- A cross dissolve cut is when there is a transition between two clips in the middle
Jump Cut- a jump cut is when a scene is shown to have a change of location from one scene to another.
Match Cut- when two scenes have a purpose together, meaning an action could be related to a subject/subject related to an action
Cut on action cut- When the camera focuses on a subject that is doing an action
J cut- when an audio in a scene is heard coming from the source of a sound
L cut- when the audio is spoken follows/ carries on and then changes to the next scene.
Composition in Film
What it's used for and an example of it used in a film
What is composition?:
Composition is the framing of what the camera sees when filming and what the audience sees. The process of composition is where the lines are placed in the subject with the points of interest of the frame.
An example of how composition is used is in the film Nightcrawler.
The camera is always focused on the main characters eyes to create human empathy, the camera starts to move towards  the main character in order so that the subject the camera is pointing to is close to the eyes

Different types of lenses and Focul Length
Wide lenses: A wide Angle lens is used for taking pictures of a much distanced subject that’s in the frame depending on the point and space your camera is pointing to.
Prime Lens: A prime lens doesn’t zoom in or out, but rather focuses on the part you want to take a picture of with the distance you’re between in. when it focuses, it focuses on the part you’re aiming your lens at, for example the subject you’re pointing to which then makes everything behind the subject blurry in order to leave that part out.
Zoom lens: A zoom lens is a lens where it gives the photographer a chance to take pictures by moving around in different focal lengths. It helps to reframe an image when taking photos without moving around therefore you have the chance to stay still.

Focul Length:
Focul Length is taking photos with your camera but from different angles instead of zooming in and out. Its important because when taking photos you have to think about the angle you’re wanting to take the photo of (the subject) and the distance between yourself and the subject. Different lenses, when taking photos represent, so each time when you’re using and changing lenses to take photos, the style of the subject stays the same, but at a different length while the background of the image changes, but somehow still focused.
